About the tutor

Graham Dean qualified as an upholsterer with WEBS Training, whilst working for Wade Upholstery, and won the Apprentice of the Year in 1975. He also holds City & Guilds Upholstery qualifications.
In 1985, Graham started his own business, in the field he loves, refurbishing cars.
Graham has worked on hundreds of cars during this time. The list is endless, both vintage and modern and includes: Aston Martins; Ferraris; Jaguars; Bentleys and Bugattis. He has also worked on a number of Alfa Romeo racing cars.
The Course
The classes consist of a maximum of four students. The word 'student' conjures up a picture of a young person but in this case it is far from representative of those who attend. These 'students' range in ages from 18 plus and are all enthusiastic to learn.
The Course runs over two days
YOUR PROJECT: Bring along your own project ie door panel; a seat.
Please contact us to talk about the project you would like to bring.
Graham specialises in both traditional upholstery & trimming techniques. You can bring along with you any of the following items; door trims; front and back seats, which can be used in cars, coaches, motorbikes, horse carriages, motorhomes, caravans etc.
TEACHING: Each teaching day starts around 9.15am, stopping for a light lunch - which is provided and ends around 5pm.
Accommodation can be provided either at a local farm B&B with some self catering rooms, or at The Olde Boote Inn at the edge of the town of Whittington only 10mins drive from Ellesmere, which over looks a castle. There is also a Caravan Park near by, which is within a 10min walking distance of the class room
MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT: As a two-day course is sometimes on a Thursday or Friday it is possible to bring along a partner or friend and extend your stay over the weekend in order to visit some of the more beautiful sites of Shropshire, Wales and Cheshire.

What our upholstery students say about us?
Hi Graham and Alison.
