It is not always necessary or in the best interest of an old piece of furniture to use harsh chemicals to strip wood for re-polishing. The professional tool is a cabinet scraper which allows the natural lustre of the wood to remain in tact. Make sure you keep the scraping edges clean and in perfect condition then just apply a little pressure to remove old polish and lacquer.
